The Kaighn Company has been a trusted name in the collection industry since it was founded by George Kaighn in 1910 in Newark, New Jersey, and was incorporated in 1925.  With offices in New Jersey and Florida, we are the oldest, privately held collection agency in the United States.  Our client base ranges from small businesses to national and international Fortune 100 companies.  Our industry expertise includes Construction, Electronics, Manufacturing and Publishing.

Key Staff Profiles

 

Corey M. De Vito, Principal

A career credit professional in several different industries, Corey joined The Kaighn Company in 2001 as an Account Executive.  In 2004, he was named President as well as becoming a Principal in the firm.  In addition to setting the strategic direction for the company, Corey is involved with all aspects of the company including sales, marketing, new business development and client consulting. 
Prior to joining The Kaighn Company, Corey held the position of Corporate Credit Manager for Eastern Concrete Materials (formerly Blue Circle Materials) for eight years.  With annual sales in excess of $800 million, Corey was responsible for all aspects of credit and accounts receivable management.  Before joining Blue Circle Materials, he served as Credit Manager for Campbell Foundry.
 Corey received his B.A. in Business Management with honors from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Jerome Ward, Principal

Jerry joined The Kaighn Company in 1961 and was promoted to Vice President in 1966.  He was made a Principal in 1975 and served as Kaighn's President until 2004.  Having successfully led The Kaighn Company for over three decades, Jerry’s primary focus today is on consulting clients and business development.
Jerry offers a wealth of debt collection experience and his expertise in collection law has proven to be invaluable to the firm as well as our client.

Joseph Lipson, Executive Vice President

Joe joined The Kaighn Company in 2006 as Executive Vice President.  His primary focus is new business development at the national level.  Joe is also The Kaighn Company's Director of Collections. With Fortune 100 companies as clients, Joe recently opened our newest office in Florida where he has been successful in building a network of new clients nationally.  He has over 16 years experience in all aspects of debt collection.  A seasoned professional, Joe honed his negotiating skills over 24 years in commodities trading where he served as Chief Metals Trader with Continental Grain Company, Chief Gold & Silver Trader with Swiss Bank and Senior Vice President, Director of Trading for Prudential Bache’s metal trading company.

 

Maryanne Kaelin, Business Operations Specialist

Maryann serves as our Business Operations Specialist.  Her responsibilities include the oversight of business operations, account management and marketing.  With over 30 years experience in Finance, Budgeting and Billing as well as extensive knowledge of process & workflow design, Maryann has been tasked with improving our internal processes to maximize debt recovery while maintaining the highest level of customer support and satisfaction.  Prior to joining The Kaighn Company in 2007, Maryann held the position of Finance Operations Manager with Verizon Communications.  Maryann holds a Project Management Master’s Certificate from the George Washington University and certificates in Leadership Development & Strategic Business Planning.

Matthew Pica, Vice President

Matt joined The Kaighn Company in 1994 as Vice President of our Construction Division.  With expertise in construction lien and bond filing, Matt is the firm’s subject matter expert for all issues related to debt management in the construction industry.  His focused knowledge and strong client base has made the Construction Division the cornerstone of our business.  Prior to joining the firm Matt enjoyed a 20 year career with Raia Industries where he served as Manager of Credit and Director of Human Resources.  While at Raia, Matt was a member of several credit related committees and associations, serving as President of the New Jersey Concrete and Aggregate Association Creditor’s Committee and Lumberman’s Association. Matt received his B.A. in Business Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
